Falls Prevention Workshop – Oct. 5th: Preventing Falls, Preserving Independence: Free Workshop for Older Adults in Ross Community In a dedicated effort to keep our older residents safe and independent, Kendal at Home, the Ross Township Fire Department, and the Ross Community Foundation are joining forces to offer a comprehensive Falls Prevention Workshop. This free event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 5th, at 11:00 AM at the Ross Fire Station,1308 Ross Millville Rd., (US 27), as part of the Ross Township Fire Department's Open House on October 6th. CDC reports that falls are the leading cause of injury and death among adults over 65, with one fall doubling the risk of falling again. Our goal in presenting this free event is to keep our older neighbors safe and remaining independent in their homes! This vital community event is made possible by the generous support of the Ross Community Foundation, which is also sponsoring refreshments for the workshop. All members of the community, particularly older adults, are encouraged to attend. Our older neighbors are a precious part of the Ross community, and this event aims to equip them with the tools and knowledge needed to stay safe and independent in their homes. Space is limited, so please recommend those interested to secure their spot by contacting Wendy Fetters at (513) 300-5663 or registering at https://www.kendalathome.org/10/05/2024-fall-prevention-workshop

Chief of Police Selection

For the past three months, the Ross Township administration has conducted a search for the next Police Chief of Ross Township. There were fourteen highly qualified law enforcement professionals that applied for the position. Residents will be pleased to know that all of the men and women that applied, have stellar backgrounds and are held in high regard among their colleagues and piers. Their experience levels were of the highest rank and tenure and we are thankful for each and everyone that applied to lead the Ross Township Police department. Each candidate, in his or her own way, would have been an outstanding choice.

Ross Township has been blessed to have had one Fire Chief for a long tenure and we believe our current Fire Chief gives us that same quality. That was an extremely important part of the selection process for our new Police Chief. The Trustees acknowledge the importance of a consistent command structure within each department and the reliability of keeping our new Police Chief for the foreseeable future.

As previously stated, each candidate had a tremendous amount of experience. We could have easily selected any one of them and made the public argument that they were the best fit for Ross Township. As is the case in many instances, there are little things learned throughout the search process that push one person ahead of the others. Our new Chief has one goal in mind and that is to lead this department with ethics and transparency. It is with gratitude, the utmost of respect and our honor that the Board of Trustees announces Robert Gerhardt as the new Police Chief of Ross Township.
